A Novel Framework for Availability based Provisioning in Next-Generation SONET/SDH Networks

چکیده
We propose a novel shared-wavelength WDM-PON architecture to accommodate downstream bursty traffic, and provide architectural support for different QoS to users. Downstream wavelengthallocation algorithm is proposed and its properties are evaluated. ©2006 Optical Society of America OCIS: (060.4250) Networks

Next-generation SONET/SDH provides carriers with new capabilities for building advanced Ethernet data services. Along these lines, numerous Ethernet-over-SONET studies have been done, with most focusing on point-to-point private line type services. This paper introduces the more challenging problem of provisioning multi-point-to-multi-point Ethernet LAN services over inverse-multiplexing networ...
متن کاملNetwork Working Group Framework for Generalized Multi-protocol Label Switching (gmpls)-based Control of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy/synchronous Optical Networking (sdh/sonet) Networks
Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) is a suite of protocol extensions to MPLS to make it generally applicable, to include, for example, control of non packet-based switching, and particularly, optical switching. One consideration is to use GMPLS protocols to upgrade the control plane of optical transport networks. This document illustrates this process by describing those extensi...
متن کاملNext Generation SONET / SDH Next Generation
Innovation, the lifeline to survival in the telecommunications market, has spurred the telecommunications industry to adopt next-generation SONET/SDH as the most economical and technologically feasible solution for transmitting both voice and data over carrier networks. According to Marian Stasney, a Yankee Group senior analyst, “As bandwidth demand increases or equipment becomes obsolete in me...

متن کاملOptical Metropolitan Networks: Packet Format, MAC Protocols and Quality of Service
Optical Packet Switching (OPS) is among the most promising solutions for next generation metropolitan networks. The increase of packetbased services (video on demand, etc.) is pushing metropolitan networks providers to renew their infrastructures. Today, metropolitan networks are based on SONET/SDH circuit-switched networks, which are becoming inefficient and costly to support new requirements ...
